Product Description

M73 Kontos carries all the basic elements connecting the knives of the M series. Full tang construction with fully milled circumference and a lightweight handle for perfect balance and a blade made of Swedish Sleipner steel, equipped with a Stonewash or Cerakotes 3D processed handle, made of pieces. M73 KONTOS has a clear distinctive feature - a hexagonal pommel processed from an original tank tread. Of course, the self-locking kydex sheath supplemented by a pair of molle clips is a matter of course.

Interview with the authors of the knife

"In the design of the M73 knife, we wanted to underline the well-known elements of the T72 tank, in the spine of the knife we see a strictly straight upper surface of the tank body, the front false edge embodies an axe for us, i.e. the front armored part of the tank and finally the blade itself follows the same curve as the hull of the tank under the tank driver," describes Corporal Petr Stach and Master Sergeant Petr Knot from the 73rd Tank Battalion. "We also wanted to preserve the symbolism of the turret's number designation, so we marked the knives with a serial number precisely on the guard, which, like the turret, protrudes from the body of the tank/knife," adds Corporal Stach. "The biggest challenge was undoubtedly the installation of the pommel of the handle with a tank tread cap. It was important mainly to design the handle grooves in such a way that the handle, despite its unorthodox contour, remained comfortable and functional," describes Ondřej Nemec from ANV. "We also wanted to incorporate some symbolism into the knife, so the handle has three sets of screws, just like our battalion has three tank companies," describes Master Sergeant Knôt. "In addition, each platoon has three crews and each crew consists of three guys," concludes the description of the result of the collaboration by Corporal Stach.
