The folding pocket knife Bestech Liger BG61B OD Green is a robust, large knife ideal for everyday carry (EDC), crafted by American designer Keanu Alfaro.
The Wharncliffe blade features a plain edge and flat grind, made from Satin finished D2 tool steel. This steel has been a staple for various cutting tools since World War II due to its toughness, ease of sharpening, and excellent edge retention. However, it is not fully stainless, so it is susceptible to moisture and acids, which can cause discoloration or rust if not properly maintained. Therefore, it is crucial to clean and dry the blade after each use.
The blade's opening mechanism is supported by ceramic ball bearings, ensuring smooth operation. It can be opened using a dual thumb stud located on both sides of the wedge. The upper jimping wedge on the back features a notched thumb rest. The entire assembly is secured with a robust B-Lock (Cross Bar).
This crossbar moves horizontally within longitudinal cutouts in the steel side plates of the handle frame. When the knife is opened, the locking bar overlaps the back of the blade from above, preventing it from closing. Two springs press down on this bar. To unlock, you pull back the locking bar, accessible through cutouts in the grips on the handle sides. In the locked position, the bar presses against the cam surface at the back of the blade, preventing accidental opening.
The handle of this pocket knife is crafted from OD green G10, a composite material made of glass fibers and synthetic resin. It is durable, strong, and provides a comfortable grip.
The two-position, right/left deep carry clip allows for discreet pocket carry in a tip-up position (with the blade tip pointing upward).
