The Selvans S600 Black represents a sophisticated upgrade of the renowned Selvans survival knife, now featuring Böhler S600 steel and a sleek all-black appearance. Developed in partnership with Daniele Dal Canto, a certified AIGS (Italian Survival Guide Association) instructor, this knife is crafted for challenging survival situations and extreme outdoor environments.
High-Performance Blade for Harsh Environments
At the core of the Selvans S600 Black is a 160 mm (6.3”) long, 6.3 mm thick blade made from Böhler S600 steel, a tool steel celebrated for its outstanding wear resistance, toughness, and impressive hardness rating of 64 HRC. This makes it perfect for chopping and batoning, as well as for demanding, repetitive cutting tasks without losing its edge quickly. The EXP DARK finish, a Teflon-based coating, offers corrosion protection despite the steel’s lower chromium content.
Precision Engineering for Survival Use
The high molybdenum, tungsten, and vanadium content in the S600 steel enhances strength and edge retention, while cobalt aids in fine carbide distribution—further elevating the blade's performance in abrasive conditions. The steel undergoes hardening and cryogenic treatment to achieve its optimal structure and stability.
