Spyderco Assist was designed for emergency professionals - firefighters, rescuers, and the like. These knives must be completely reliable, fully functional in any situation and weather.
The emergency blade with a dull tip is made of VG-10 steel, coated with a non-reflective black carbon nitride. It is designed for fast and aggressive cutting of safety belts, ropes, cords, and fibrous material. The blade is serrated almost along the entire length of the cutting edge. The serration ends just a short distance from the dull tip. The blade opens manually with a round hole on the blade. Next to it is a grooved protrusion for easier opening and, most importantly, firm and safe thumb positioning while cutting. The blade is also shaped on the top side for easier use in a semi-open state, like rope scissors, without having to fully open the knife. The handle is maximum safety and has a black, matte color. It is made of FRN material and ergonomically shaped with a light grip from both sides. When closed, press the blade deeper into the handle and the retractable carbide tip will slide out for easy glass breaking. The pocket clip is wire and two-position.
An interesting feature of the knife is a small whistle built into the handle.
