Straight chisels

Straight wood carving chisels are among the basic tools that should not be missing from any carving kit. They are perfect for carving simple shapes and straight lines, making them ideal for beginners, yet still useful for more advanced work.

If you’re just starting with carving, we recommend beginning with a flat chisel with profile no. 1, which is versatile and easy to control. Other useful profiles include slightly curved chisels (profile 3), deeply curved chisels (profile 10) for creating rounded shapes, and V-profile chisels (60°) for fine lines and decorative cuts. For better precision and control, we also recommend using a carving mallet together with the chisel.
