In the mid-17th century, duels were at the height of their popularity. In fact, this trend of settling matters of honor with steel reached such heights that the French king Louis XIII had to ban them out of fear of losing too many of his important officials due to this dangerous trend!
Nobles considered it their duty to defend their honor with a sword and began not only seeking knowledge and training from fencing masters, but also exploring new types of weapons that helped them gain a decisive advantage.
One particular sword gained popularity - a smaller, lighter, and faster version of the rapier, which was easier to carry and more agile in combat. The interpretation of this weapon by Cold Steel has a thin blade with a double-edged edge made of high carbon steel 1055. The decorated hilt, complemented by a perforated guard and a hand guard, is made of tempered steel. The wire-wrapped handle is topped with a pinecone-shaped pommel.
The sword is supplied with a hand-stitched leather scabbard and a steel mounting with an integrated hanging hook.
